We are travelling from Manchester, UK and want to start the route at Sarria in May. Can anyone advise whether we would be best to fly to Madrid and then get train to start point, or fly to santiago and get train or bus to start point in Sarria? We want to make the most of our time and are looking for best transportation options. Any advice welcomed .

If you have a direct flight to Santiago, it is much closer to Sarria and fairly easy to get to. It's a long train/bus ride from Madrid to Sarria - usually via Lugo.

There are direct trains from Madrid to Sarria. But probably cheaper and quicker to travel by bus from Santiago via Lugo.

Fly to Santiago. You can obtain a cheap transfer to Sarrria.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
