Travel from Paris to Bayonne

I've been reading as much as I can on the forum to learn and recently hit a snag planning how to get down to SJPDP in September, 2014. I'm elated we are coming!

Our first night in Paris we are staying very close to the Place de Clichy metro. We plan on taking the TGV train to Bayonne in the morning. My understanding is that we need to take the Paris Montparnasse TGV train to Bayonne early in the morning around 7:30am.

Can we catch the Place de Clichy metro in the morning over to the Paris Montparnasse TGV station? I believe we are about 4-5 miles away. I can't find a schedule for the Place de Clichy metro online. Or would we be better trying to catch a taxi or bus? I'm concerned as we need to be out the door early to catch the 7:30am train to Bayonne. Is there reliable public transit at that time?

What's the most reliable route to go to Paris Montparnasse that you would advise? Thank you for helping. I keep pinching myself as I'm really starting to believe we are going now so feeling some nerves crowding in a bit;-)

When in doubt, take a taxi. If for no other reason you'll sleep better!

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and advice. It helped a lot. You answered many questions about what's open since we are starting out so early in the morning. Thanks for the links as I'll save those. Big sigh of relief when we make it to SJPDP.

Moses Lake, I lived in Spokane for years. Good to meet another Washingtonian on the forum

I am leaving tomorrow after a few days here - from Paris via Bayonne to St Jean. My train leaves at 12:28 and I get into St Jean at. 730 pm. I booked 2 nights in St Jean and start May 5th. I suspect a taxi would be less hassle. I paid in cash since my card does not have a chip. Ticket cost 97 Euro. - John
