Type C or F adaptor for the French Way?

Hi everyone!



I was wondering what type of plug sockets you’ve encountered in the Camino (French Way). If it makes a difference, we are walking from O’Cebreiro to Santiago.

Below is the type C I could buy:




I currently have a type F adapter (see picture below)



I am wondering if I should buy a type C in case some wall sockets don’t accept the little ears that stick out of the Type F adapter.


Thank you in advance! Leaving in 2 weeks! I can’t believe it!

France in my experience uses the heavy duty sockets. The two pin plug fits just fine. I'm looking at my French phone charger at the moment and it's a two pin. The bigger plugs are for high amp devices.

Oh to answer your question. I'd be worried that the adapter in the first picture wouldn't fit. The part past the pins isn't long enough. Compare it to the F adapter. The F adapter will give you an idea of the standard socket that both should fit into.

The C you posted would be fine for Italy. In most place.

So for Spain and that part of the Camino (Galicia) you think I should be OK with the F? Even though it has those little things sticking out the sides?

I guess you could always find something different but in my experience Spain,France and Germany all use the socket to fit the F. The C plug fits into the F socket. The smaller simpler plug is for low power items.

The two side metal bits don't actually stick out do they? The metal bits that stick out are in the socket.

I use the same adaptor everywhere in the EU.
France. Spain, Italy....

No, the metal part doesn't stick out... what sticks out is plastic... if you see the picture... the sides have 2 plastic "ears" (or whatever you would call that) that sticks out... I'm afraid it won't fit in the wall with those things sticking out.
I guess if it doesn't work, I will find places along the way to buy one that fits.

That's normal. On the socket you'll see two metal bits that slide into those plastic slots.

At any rate...there are hardware stores and supermarkets that will have what you need..cheaply

#2 is the F type socket. The metal ears slide into the grooves on the plug. That plug will also take the Italian three pin plug. I think in the rest of Europe the middle pin would be missing.
