Vuelta 2017

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I'm already looking forward to it, and as I shall be out at work I have set my skybox to record it that afternoon (it's a time trial so we should see a lot of the route, several times over). It's a stage where Chris Froome would hope to consolidate his lead, he's good at the TTs.

Haha. Was just coming on to mention this. Hopefully won't be too much of a hassle for those on The Way at the moment. Looking forward to a fix of Camino scenery.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Chris Froome is good at everything!

Perfect day for a cycling and Camino fan.

Going through Sansol, Torres del Rio and Viana.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

...if you think getting socks and underwear dry overnight can be hard at times, you should try getting cycling shorts dry!

But seriously... I've been watching La Vuelta and have been wondering how they deal with things when it 'overlaps' with the Camino. Our 2014 Camino (cycling as it happens) was somewhat deglossed by having a Vuelta time-trial in Santiago the day after we arrived but having all the regalia in the square set-up in readiness.

Finished (walking this time) the Frances route 11 days ago but I can't recall how much of the walk up to Logroño was on the road.

In any case, both El Camino and La Vuelta bring money to the communities involved so I'm sure both are embraced.

I would like to have seen it but there is almost no tv coverage here unlike the Tour de France which was televised live in the morning with a highlight version in the evening.

I was also there in 2014. LV impacted our walk through Ponferrada I. The morning. But as something of a Grand Tour junkie I was in heaven just watching the team buses driving up.

The International Cycling Championship was also along the Camino that summer. The only things we had to keep in mind were the shortage of hotels as the cyclists, team entourage, security and journalists were taking all of them. Since I was in albergues it was no issue.

Where are you Dave?

Hey Dave,

There's an official "Is Vuelta" channel on YouTube which provides daily highlights which you could try in a pinch.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Los Arcos and Logroño today.
When I saw the helicopter view of Los Arcos I realised the town is bigger than I thought. Well it has been 6 years already since I passed the town.

Thanks. I'll check it out. Where there's a will....

We walked from Los Arcos to Viana on that day. It was so exciting. At times our Camino path was higher than the road and we could look down and see the action, and for some of it, we were walking along the road with the support vehicles going past. When we got to Viana, after our shower, we joined the locals and watched the last of the cyclists, including Chris Froome, come through
