Which section of Le Puy route should I do? And when?

I have walked the final 1/3 of the Camino Frances (Astorga to Santiago) in 2010 & then a shorter part of the Camino del Norte in 2011 (beautiful but pretty difficult I thought). Now I am thinking about doing a route in France & it doesn't really matter to me in particular where I start or end up, but I am looking for a section that I could do in 10 to 12 days that would be especially great for photography. I am also not sure what month would be most colorful (May? june?). Finally, I am having difficulty finding good sources about this route so that I can decide what are realistic distances per day, etc. I am hoping to have a couple of friends along this time, so I also want it to be a great experience for them. Any recommendations would be very welcome.

In 10-12 days you can certainly make the section from Le Puy to Conques and possibly further to Figeac. This is the most scenic leg of the le Puy route. There are good transport connections at Le Puy, Aumont-Aubrac, and Figeac; there is some transport available at several other towns on the way. You can read blogs from several forum members who have walked this, along with daily distances and lodgings. The blog links are in the blog section (see upper part of the Le Puy section page). Due to the elevation, starting after Easter is recommended. It is very popular walking in May.

Another possibility might be Navarrenx to SJPP, which runs through the Basque area in the Pyrenees foothills.
