What might the weather be like in August and September? We are expecting rain. We are hoping the green landscape won't be all gone.

In august and september you can expect some fantasic, but also some very hot weather. Anything between 25 to even 35 degrees is no exception. Hotter days are also very possible and not uncommon, especially on the meseta. With hardly any shade to hide in, these can make for very long days. An early start would be the best. For any hot day. Dont forget your headlamp :)

I started sept 2nd last year in st jean and had no more than a handfull of rainy-ish days. From mid september onwards the days are still warm too hot, but the nights, as soon as the sun is gone, start to cool down and if you want to sit outside for dinner or drinks, a warmer top might be advisable.

I was in Finisterre beginning of october and people were still laying on the beach and even swimming in the ocean. Dont know how cold it was, but still, that says it al.

Jen, as you know from past conversations, my wife and I walked from St Jean to Santiago last year during the same time period you mention (we walked from 16 Aug to 25 Sept). We lucked into an unusual weather pattern for that time of year. We had only a couple of light sprinkles along the way, and it was foggy and misty a couple days in Galicia, but otherwise it never rained on us until we reached the outskirts of Santiago. I would not expect that pattern, our its associated good fortune, this year. Bring rain gear or poncho, and be prepared for at least some afternoon and evening showers.

I would agree with Kisa T concerning what to expect vegetation-wise. Between Pamplona and Leon the fields will have been harvested, leaving golden fields of stubble and gigantic hay stacks. Since you live where you do, you probably have driven through the plains of eastern Colorado and western Kansas in the fall -- that's pretty much what the countryside will look like, particularly once you're on the Meseta.

Buen Camino,
Jim

¿Qué camino vas a hacer?. El clima y los paisajes son muy distintos dependiendo de la ruta que escojas.

Which way you going to do?. The weather and scenery are very different depending on the route you choose.
