We have been wondering about this intriguing flowering shrub for a couple of days. Does anyone know the name in English or Spanish? IMG-5c23205359b421c3c8aa222616f73b0a-V.jpg

Callistemon is the botanical name - my bet is that would sound ok in Spanish also? In Oz more commonly known as 'bottle brush'.

Yeah, Callistemon splendens is the usual red one seen about, but there are yellow varieties too. They originate in Australia, but are found all over where it is not too wet/cold for them. We can grow quite a few in the South West of the UK.... They are very tough and can survive drought well.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Great! Thank you for the swift replies.

I think all callistemons are Australian. Like eucalypts. We have some weird flora, the result of being an island continent. Although obviously lots of it now grows in many places. Sometimes invasively - sorry Galicia, about those eucalypts.

Try pronouncing Callistemon with a strong Catalan accent:)

If you want to grow a specimen for yourself the ' king's park ' variety is very good and less likely to turn woody and straggley.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Thet respond well to a hard pruning after flowering otherwise thay get straggely.

Found this one in Lavacolla - a well grown specimen....
Just been paddling in the stream at Lavacolla. We missed the plant though.
