A long time before I walked my Camino, I was consoled by my friend when I could not go--that person told me my life was my Camino and I walked it every day. I tried to keep that in mind until I actually walked my Way, with my son this past May. I truly understood, after that walk what my friend...
I walked the coastal Camino Portuguese, from Porto to Santiago. It was lovely. The amount of pilgrims increased as I met up with the central route in Redondela. I loved every bit of it. Very little cobblestones on the coastal paths. Advise taking extra days in Porto and Viana do Costelo. I loved...
You will enjoy the walk from Cathedral Se! We stopped at Matosinhos, Pensao Central for the night and continued on the next day. This allowed us to explore attractions along the river walk. Glorious! Bom Camhino!
There is a train that runs up the coast. I think it's CP, take a look into that. We used the train to get from Viaba to Caminha. Very easy and reasonable.
There was one short walk--the boardwalk was not complete, but it was just yards--no trouble. Mostly Boardwalk, trails, and paved roads. We did meet a couple who walked the beach up to Viana, but we followed the arrows through a lovely Ecualtptus forest, over a river and through the woods. It was...
I walked the coastal route with my son this past May. I loved it! Every day brought different scenery. I loved watching the coast change as we headed to Spain. I fell in love with Viana do Castelo! We both loved the Portuguese people, food, and landscape--to the point of disappointment of Spain...
Hi, I'm sorry, I haven't checked in lately. I don't think you need to join Instagram to look at my photos. My photos are on my phone and I can't figure out how to post on the forum.
I took a bath at Caldas De Reais. It was lovely. For me, it was the little things--like buying a huge box of...
I walked the Coastal Camino Portuguese and I loved it, very much. After Viana, we walked the following stages: Caminha, Oia, Baiona, Vigo and then we caught back up to the inland Camino at Redondela. It was lovely, watching the Coast evolve from sand to rock and from balmy to gusty wind!
Please...
I am using my iPhone with the app maps.me --I downloaded the maps for Portugal and Spain. Although not marked with Camino Routes, I am finding maps.me to be a great resource in addition to looking for the yellow arrows. I am able to verify my location easily and I'm able to track my progress...
I posted a thread earlier asking if there is much road walking when traveling the coastal Camino all the way up--but I think I posted it in the wrong area. Can anyone help me in this thread?
What should we expect? I know it's Boardwalk for part of the way--but if one were to continue completely up the coast into Spain--Vigo, Baiona and beyond--meeting up in Redondela--will there be much road walking? Are we talking highway, with cars at great speed? Thank you!
Whatever you may buy, it must have a story with it. It could be the humblest twist of brass, but the story behind it is everything, don't try too hard, just browse the shops. You'll know the piece when u see it.
I'm sorry I had been away from the forum for a while.
I was discussing debit cards—but I totally appreciate the information about the credit cards. I think this will help me with my decisions.
I'm walking the coastal way of the Camino Portuguese. I've gotten a better deal overall with a AAA travel card than a TravelEx.com card, however, the AAA card does not have a chip in it and the TravelEx.com has a chip in it. I've searched Google maps for ATMs or banks in various coastal...
