Albergue closure Almadén de la Plata

Hi all,

Just read a notice on the Facebook page of a Vía de la Plata group that the municipal in Almadén de la Plata is closed for renovations.

If I recall correctly there is a private one in town, Albergue Casa del Reloj.

From what I understand it will reopen in early June. I don't know the nature of the repairs, or if that is true, but if you are passing through at that time it would make good sense to call ahead as they might have reopened by then.

The Casa del Reloj is an excellent option. If I remember correctly, when I walked the albergue was closed. It was just as were emerging from the pandemic. The albergue is clean and comfortable and the owners were so nice and helpful.

Be sure to ask. I was there yesterday. My friends got them to reopen the albergue and even turn on the hot water!

Also beware in Fuente de Cantos. All full today. Gerald Kelly says the albergue in the next town is open. 15 of us bused ahead to Zafra to find something.

If you don’t have success with finding someone to open the albergue /
- there are two places on Gronze available thru booking dot com. Hostal casa concha could fit ? Or
- if you still have fuel in your tank enough to walk on to El real de jara (also listed on Gronze) 10-13ks , there is an albergue there that could have space .
