This morning I read a beautiful lengthy obituary regarding an American pilgrim passing away while walking the Camino.
It stated Thomas Richard Lyons jr. of Napa California took his last earthly steps along side his wife Diana. The article stated it is believed he died in his sleep of an apparent cardiac arrest while in Valladolid Spain. The obituary said he left behind his wife and 2 daughters.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
With so many elderly walking the Camino each year, what happens if I do pass away? My own preference is a Catholic mass, cremation and the ashes sent back to Australia or scatted into the sunset at Finestre by relatives. I have heard of families having to pay huge amounts of money and also all the paperwork to return the body to the home country.

Wow I am from Napa and walked last year and plan to walk again next year. There have been a string of pilgrims from here and this saddens me to the core and almost gives me goosebumps. May he rest in peace.

Journey on our fellow Peregrino. May the spirit of St. James shepard you on your way. Prayers for eventual peace to the family.

I imagine he slipped his skin and just kept walking.
