Buying walking poles in Santiago or Muxia

Having had two sets of poles taken from me at the airport on my return flight (traveling cabin luggage only) I want to buy poles cheaply on arrival before O begin my Camino..either in Santiago or Muxia where I start. Any suggestions?

There is a Decathlon City branch just outside the historic centre of Santiago - near the Alameda park. But it is probably worth asking your hotel or albergue if any have been left there by previous visitors. Or drop in at Pilgrim House and ask if there are spare ones that have been left there. Huge numbers of used poles are left by pilgrims every year.

In Santiago go to Pilgrims House - they have a barrel of donated poles. You can take what you like. Many albergues in Santiago also have left poles.

As you can see, buying poles in Santiago is pretty much unnecessary. It's where all the poles get left behind.

Ivar and Pilgrim House are both excellent sources. If you are staying in an albergue I bet the albergue will have some too.

I picked up some at the albergue where I was staying in Santiago, then walked to Muxia, Finisterre and from Porto back to Santiago, where I left those poles at the same albergue. Hopefully someone else gets to use them too

I’m going to donate my poles to a needy peregrino at the big donation, San Nicolas de Flüe, in Ponferrada when I get there tomorrow.
