After reading the forum posts for the last 18 months I am still confused as to what is the correct answer. Do you need two stamps each day after you pass the 100km mark to Santiago ? I have seem many posts that say you need 2 stamps and many that say only one stamp. Which is correct.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
My reading of it was one stamp per day if you walk from StJPP and two per day if you only walk from Saria. Thats what I did and had no problems in Santiago.

Why only 1 or 2? I love looking over my credencials. its easier then digging out a photo album or rummaging Picasa to find a memory. Take one from wherever you can, many are almost works of art others will give you the kilometerage to Santiago others remind you of people you met or with whom you had lunch or shared a picnic or a bottle of wine. There is a a Spanish website which I cannot remember but has a presentation of all albergue and ayuntamiento sellos along the way. Free enjoyable and later nostalgic. Not Pokeman but to paraphrase- "got to get them all." A good subject for a PhD thesis.

From the credential itself by way of the Cathedral Pilgrim Office website translation:
The Credencial also clearly states that pilgrims should obtain at least two sellos per day. You must ensure that you do this at least in the last 100 kms from the Cathedral of Santiago if you are walking or on horseback and 200 kms if you are travelling by bicycle.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
When I arrived in Sarria I stopped at the tourist office and had my credential stamped. They wanted me to be sure that I understood that from there to Santiago I needed to get two stamps per day. Before that I had often only gotten one per day.

The correct answers have been given before this my note.
I am not a Compostela hunter and didn't bother to sample 2 stamps a day after Sarria until Santiago for the sake of getting numbers when my credencial, with sequential albergue and church stamps from Roncesvalles to Santiago, became an automatic proof of having walked the pilgrimage.
Stamps from bars, shops or other commercial outfits do not really fit into my pilgrimage concept. :|

Just about every place you stop - bars, shops, tourist offices, restaurants, hotels, etc - has a stamp so it's easy to get way more than the minimum and they do make great reminders.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Here is a pic from 2016, I love the simplicity of the sketch map and directions "1 km climb up, 5km flat, 5km down". I wonder how the prices are now?
Reposted from Wise Pilgrim comments, was hiking with this pilgrim. Don’t follow app,go just a bit further past to well marked turn, not the one with spray painted arrow on stop sign:
