I Plan to walk the Camino Portuguese coastal route to Santiago in September 2016
Hello everyone, and THANK YOU! I am a little out of my element here, and appreciate your help. I am planning on doing the Camino Portuguese from Porto to Santiago in early to mid September. So far, I will have at least one travelling companion. I originally thought I would hire a company to book everything for me, but now have decided to visit, Portugal, France and Greece as well. I need to keep my costs down. Can anyone suggest a 6 day walk route, with a list of Albergues (Municipal and Private) and a list of 2-3 star hotels with average costs per night? I am travelling from Toronto, Ontario , Canada, so if anyone knows of any cheaper ways to fly, that would also be useful information as I haven't booked yet. Is it possible to pre-book Albergues? Do I need to worry that they will all be full when I arrive? And finally, does anyone know which banks have the lesser fees for withdrawing foreign currency from an ATM? Again, THANK YOU! I am very much looking forward to my journey.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
Hello RhondaC and welcome to the forum.

These two links may help you. The first is from this forum and takes you to information about the Portuguese routes

https://www.caminodesantiago.me/community/forums/camino-portugues.13/

This second link is from another site. (Gronze) It may help you fine tune your six-days in terms of accommodation.

It is usually not possible to pre-book municipal albergues. I believe all privately run accommodation is pre-bookable. Whether the municipal albergues are full or not when you arrive is all part of the adventure if you want it to be

If you use the "search" function at the top of the page and search on 'Travel', you might get some help with travel. You might get lucky and get some info on here from others on your side of the pond who have walked the Caminos.

Have tried searching for a local Camino group in your area to help with your planning?

Can't help you with your bank question I'm afraid.

Buen Camino

Regarding flights to Porto, take a look at Air Transat, they may have a direct flight at good prices.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
