20210321_150751.jpg20210321_150838.jpgWow...I can't even begin to comprehend this potential trail. I wonder if it could be done... logistically, politically...safely... 😯 🤔
Anybody done any sections or know someone who has? I know some members have walked through Turkey at least.
This falls in the 'Dream Big' category & would be daunting to even the most intrepid (that's not me... 🤭) amongst us!
Happy trails everyone...wherever, & most topically...whenever.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Indeed. What a journey it would be!

For blogs of someone who has walked much of the world during the past decade read
Ann Sieben, Winter Pilgrim

One very snowy night in February 2009 I met Ann in the old winter albergue room in Santo Domingo de la Calzada and have followed her many winter journeys ever since. What courage and determination!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Are there facilities for eccentric dodderers like me? :) What a trip it would be for mind , body and soul! Could it be crowd-funded for the elderly? I could pay my way by being a travelling poet! :)

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

The route involves a ferry across the gulf of suez so I don't think it's correct to claim that this is a route with "no boat or air journey." There is at least one bridge across the Suez canal, but I don't know if it's possible to cross by foot. In any case, the route shown is not the longest walk without a boat.

I have also read that the border crossing into Israel is closed, but I guess that might change.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

You don't go through Israel (Eilat) as doing so would get an Israeli stamp on your passport (though this has been replaced by a voucher.

Had booked the Taba - Aqaba ferry a few years ago to try to see Petra (via Wadi Rum) but a sudden death of a close relative meant we had to abandon that plan. It's still on our list though.

That would be a great walk.

Regarding long walks, this journalist is walking 21,000 miles (33,800 km) following the path of human migration from Africa. (Eden Walk)

He started 8 yrs ago in Ethiopia and covered 11,000 miles (17,700 km) before reaching Myanmar, where he's paused until the pandemic relents.

The Russian section may have to be broken into many stages walked months apart if you need visas.
When I was a hospitalera at Emaus in Burgos, I met two Korean pilgrims, who had travelled by bicycle from Seoul and were heading to Santiago. The journey had so far taken them 22 months, much of that time spent waiting for visas in former Soviet countries.

Has anyone tried this: The Great Trail/The Trans Canada Trail that extends over 27,000 kilometres ... includes a system of greenways, waterways, and roadways - so not walkable every step of the way, alas...

https://thegreattrail.ca/ -- see Explore the Map to see the trail...

Happy trails!

The Great Trail goes along the Bow River in Calgary, about 10 minutes walk from where I live. I cross a bridge designed by the Spanish architect, Santiago Calatrava and whichever way I turn along the Bow River, I am on the Great Trail. There is a small structure along the path to the east which gives some information about it.

The TCT is on my 'Dream Big' List...& my name is also on a metre of it somewhere!
During the establishment/'construction' phase (the trail often utilises disused railways lines, forestry trails, etc) in the late 90's/early 2000's, I made a donation which I believe is acknowledged in one of the pavillions @Albertagirl mentions.
Of course it'd be incredible to walk the whole thing but that will remain a pipe dream....more realistically, I hope to walk a section or two...& find my metre! 🤗 You could nominate an area for your donation so....which section of the 27,000km did I donate to....? 🤔 🤣

I guess it would beg a few questions, like why do it and how would anyone possibly fund such a trip if they didn't have the savings or earnings to cover it?
A few people have cycled the world, sailed around the world and also walked several long routes that probably accumulate to similar distance. Either way, it's not for the feint hearted or people that have other responsibilities they need to attend to. But for one or two people it might be the thing they've dreamt of for years, in which case go well my friend and enjoy. Buen Camino

Well with this mornings news that a cargo ship is stuck accross the suez canal that's the above issue solved. It could be used as a bridge..... And imght even have a few containers of footwear on board!
