We are on the pilgrimage.

Will see Cruz de Ferro tomorrow.

We started in Pamplona-only hotels so far. (Thought I'd confess our sin up front for purists)

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Starting in Pamplona myself on Oct 1st- cannot wait to be back at the Cruz de Ferro again :) Hope your Camino is going well and that the Cruz brings you any peace and solace you are seeking. Looking forward to reading your blog- Buen Camino!

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

If you haven't explored the other features Ivar has added to the Forum, take a look at the Social Groups forum area. It's taylor-made for like minded pilgrims to meet, chat and share experiences. That's not to say we pilgrims aren't all like minded, but when enjoying a thread on, say "Cruz de Ferro" and mid way down I come across a discussion by two metal smiths sharing a back and forth on the probable ores used and techniques of crafting such an edifice; something gets lost in the weeds. Just saying...
Yes, I can see it now: "Purists' on Camino". What a concept!

Buen Camino,

I started out from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port on 1 May. It turned out to be an unforgetable day. Above 1,000 m or so it snowed, catching many people unprepared. Later that day "many" walkers were...
And another attempt looms, to buy a decent Poncho after trying and failing in the previous two likely towns. Anyone know where an Altos or similar might be bought in Leon, please? 😁
