First time on Camino - how far in two weeks?

Time of past OR future Camino
September (2018)
A friend and I are going on the Camino in September. We haven't done it before. We both have around 14 - 16 days off work. We are blokes in our late forties and moderately fit. We want to arrive in Santiago at the end of our walk. We would appreciate suggestions as to were to start from.

How far can we realistically expect to walk each day without overdoing it?

All suggestions and advice greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Leon or Astorga are good choices to start.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Starting Leon to Finisterre and Muxia...and Leon is a great tourist city to see anyways and I just passed through missing it.

Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).
If you are not wedded to the Frances the Primitivo is a good option allowing time to go on to Finisterre within the 16 days,

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
St Jean to Burgos then come back next year to finish.

As many have suggested before. Check Gronze.com and work your way backwards on the Etapa maps.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-
Thanks for all the replies.

Coming from Ireland, what is the best way to get to Astorga? That is, which airport to fly to? And then bus or train to Astorga?
