Dear all,

One quick question... Galicia is promoted with the slogan "Galicia, el buen camino" in spanish.

What would be a good translation to english for this slogan?

"Galicia, the good way" ... does not sound right..
"Galicia, the good walk" ... sounds strange...

Can it be translated at all? Ideas?

Thanks!
Ivar

Galicia - a way of life
I used the translation from Ephesians Chapter 4 verse 1 in the New Testament for this. The old translation says "walk worthy of the calling . . . "
Most new translations say something like "lead a life worthy of the calling . . . ". The N.T. Greek word is "peri-pateo" which literally means "to walk around".
Ivar - if you want to show your knowledge of ancient Greek, there you go :)

I once picked up a good metaphor for the Camino Francés which was described as follows: The part from the Pyrenees to the Meseta is the "Path of Purgatory", they way through the Meseta is the "Path of Death" and the way through Galicia is the "Path of Life" or "Way Back to Life".

Thus: Galicia, your way back to life starts here! :)

Walking Galicia

(but you know what, it just actually doesn't work in English! We don't have all the implied connotations that are familiar in the Spanish)

Oh, I adore The Good Walk. That is exactly what my husband and I had when we crossed into Galicia.

I did a google translation from Spanish to Swedish and got (!):
Galicia, på rätt sätt.
That, I translated back to Spanish in google and got:
Galicia, de la manera correcta.
And then I translated that to English:
Galicia, in the right way.

:)

Leveraging the topic I acknowledge but at the University outside Pamplona there is that wonderful pillar wishing "Buen Camino" , " Bon journee" and similar in a multitude of languages. I remember (?) the English version as "good journey" and thinking at the time that the classic English comment would be "mind how you go".

Meanwhile, "Galicia - all the way" speaks to this pagan heart.

I am not sure the slogan in Spanish even makes sense, I understand why they did it but it kinda of short changes the many things Galicia has to offer.
