I would like to thank this forum for the advice people gave -
I returned from the Camino Frances on sat 19 May.

I walked from Astoraga to Santiago in 13 days going via Samos.

The atmosphere was great and people so beautiful. I have got the bug and want to go back!

Thanks and kind

Welcome back, Carol. Glad you enjoyed your Camino. Stay with the forum and share your experience if you wish!

Buen Camino!

Congratulations, Carol!

On the first day of my Camino in 2009, challenged by the crossing of the Pyrenees from St. Jean Pied-de-Port to Roncesvalles, I asked myself "why on earth am I doing this?" and promised there and then that I will never do the Camino again. Guess what, I did the Camino again last year (2011) and this time I started from Le Puy-en-Velay, almost double the distance from SJPP.

Those of us who have done the Camino are drawn by the spirit of camaraderie, the joy of walking, the surprises of everyday, the beauty of the scenery, the serenity of the spirit, the peace of mind, the warmth of friendship, the daily ritual of packing and unpacking, the blessing of pilgrims, the delight of food and the incredible, indescribable joy of beholding the Cathedral of Santiago at the Prazo do Obradoiro, the reunion of pilgrim-friends, the celebration of the pilgrim's Mass, the drama of the Botafumeiro and the quiet moments of prayer. I will not be surprised if you will do the Camino again and again.

Thank you for sharing your experience with us!

Blessings,
Manny D.

I think if there was a competition to describe what the Camino means in 5 - 7 sentences, Manny would win hands down!!

Welcome Home !
Not your physical, literal home, but Home with yourself.
Arriving Home from the Camino has been transformational. More peace, less anger, worry, doubt, guilt... more inspiration.

I hope you feel the glow inside.

Welcome again Carol, & how was your weather, a month later than our same trip :)
Our future Caminos' will be local to Wales/Hereford, once my knee starts playing ball, plus our dog wont have to go to friends again to learn how to bark, yes she now barks
She's Welsh Border Collie & loves the Black Mountains :D

A lovely Book by Bruc Chatwin - On the Black Hill
