I stayed in the Hotel America on Rua Sanchez Calviño. Cheap, nice friendly owner, clean. Fairly simple and breakfast was minimal. About 1k from the start of the Camino.

Too many to count!
I always stay at the Hostal La Fronterra. It is mere steps from the camino, by the big park where the camino crosses. It is inexpensive, friendly, and accommodating, if a bit getting up there in age. I walk the section from the waterfront to the hotel the night before, then pick it up from there on the first day. Very energy efficient for the day, if you plan to go all the way to Pontedeume, as it knocks off 1.7 kilometers. There is also a nice cafe in the lower level to have an early breakfast (open at 0700). (If you want to see the location of the hotels, the tracks we did, photos, etc, visit my website - Camino Ingles. Have a buen camino!

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

I think it was the Hotel Silva where we stayed. [Edit: it wasn't; see my next post.] I think so because it is the one closest to the the bus and train stations. Mid-priced. I remember it being so-so but Google has it recorded as 4.0 out of 5.0 over 223 reviews.

This link pin-points the hotel's location and gives the sidebar information that Google has collected:

I stayed at the El Suizo and would do again.

Close to the main shopping street, restaurants and halfway between the train / bus station and the harbour where the Ingles starts. Was clean and comfortable. They also had credencials at reception if you needed and stamped mine first thing in the morning as the tourist office at the start of the Ingles was not open that early.

Hotel Silva is a distance from the Ferrol bus and train station. Not close to stations.

The bus station is across the street from the train station.

But is walking distance to hotel Silva if you like walking about two miles. May be little further. I had no problem walking to Silva from Ferrol proper.

If walking from stations to hotel Silva, walk to plaza Espana. Then straight down the main road. Heading out of Ferrol. Walk to see small church on corner. Turn left. Go two blocks. Turn right.

First time may be best to catch taxi from station you arrived at.

Taxis are always at bus station. Not always at train station.

I stayed in hotel Silva a few tines.
Clean. Good price. One block off of main road into Ferrol.
Can get passport there. Laundry across the main road. Go down few blocks. On your right. Few places to eat close by. As well as small food stores.

Place is VERY clean. Has cafe/bar. Good prices.

First day I walked from port to the traffic circle. Camino route.
Walked back to hotel Silva. Spent night
Rejoined Camino where I left off day before.

Agree. Hotel Suizo is also good choice
Located in town.
The original hotel suizo is block away. No longer a hotel.

If have time visit the naval museums. Nice. Interesting

Hi Marty. I doubled checked after reading the above. It was not the Hotel Silva where we stayed.

[Edit: Google initially showed me the wrong train station. I got really confused. Ignore my previous post and the following.]

I zoomed in and the Silva is near a corner and on the opposite side of the street. We were nearby it though. Maybe it is out of business or hiding from Google.

We did walk quite a ways from the stations but it was because we kept being pointed here and there when asking if there was a hotel around (it was before we had a smartphone and didn't have a nav app downloaded on the tablet.) We bused in to Ferrol take a train out the next day (good story but too long) and it was just a short walk back to the station. The Silva showed as the hotel closest to the station so I assumed that it had to be the one.

I made a corrective edit to my first post too.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi Rick.
Hope all is well.

Did you like walking the Ingles?

It is my favorite.

Growing up I lived in Seville. Then Ferrol. Then back down to Seville.

Where I now live.

Haven’t seen you since the Frances. Been few years now.

If you come to Seville give me a yell.
Can show you some interesting places.
Grab a beer. Fish at La Isla. Or tapas.
Not p I n c h o s down here.
Darn spell checker won’t let me spell the “P” word.

I am thinking of doing the Ingles after arriving in Santiago on the Camino Frances. Can anyone recommend a reasonable hotel close to the Camino?
The Hotel Alda El Suizo (3star, 8.7) is in an excellent location for a day exploring and for the ‘start’.

Stayed at Hostal Zahara Nov 2018 in a private room, great eatery downstairs. 5 minutes from bus station and a nice 15 minute walk thru historical streets to the Pilgrims Office and Zero Km.,

Would definitely second the Hostal Zahara. Perfectly located and excellent food!

Once again, thank you all for the replies. I now have a second one. I am looking at accommodation in Bruma after that long climb. :) Other than the albergue, all other accommodation is confusing as any pensions etc. seem to be in other towns and not on the Camino itself. Also it is difficult to determine how far from Bruma these other towns are. There also seems to be a lot of pre booking for the April 22nd. Any thoughts would be gratefully received.

For Bruma we stayed at O Meson Novo. (http://www.mesonnovo.com/)
It is easy to find....just keep on the main road rather than turning left on the camino. Nice room and breakfast.

If you want something more special and are prepared to walk a further 7 km, then I recommend casa rural Anton Veiras (http://www.viveorural.com/antonveiras/inicio/) . We had a short day and stayed there too. Beautiful, peaceful and excellent food!

walk one hour further from Hospital de Bruma (makes a 36km stage walk from Betanzos, which sounds fearsome, but is actually 10 hours at a leisurely pace) and stay at Casa Rural Donnamaria in Buscas, right on the Ingles.

Only has 4 rooms, so you need to book. Lovely quiet garden and wonderful home cooked meal at the time you request (meaning you can eat at 7pm and then crash out early if you want). Best place by far that I stayed on the Ingles.
