The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Which Albergue has the most beds? I swore I saw a youtube video that said a particular albergue with 600 beds but my daughter tells me im crazy and there is no way there is one larger than 200 beds 😀
Monte de Gozo has a TON of beds...it's just shy of 5km's from Santiago. I stayed there (and kind of wished I hadn't). The facilities there were fine. It was the only time I disobeyed my own rules and stopped there at 1:00pm and checked in and showered up. My plan was to hike into Santiago the next morning. But I went into town to the train station to get a ticket and found it to be quite difficult as it was mid-July and I couldn't obtain a reservation. So, I booked one train to Leon, and then booked another ticket from Leon to Madrid...this required me to leave the next day (I was planning on spending a whole day in Santiago)

So, I went back to Monte de Gozo and brought my pilgrim passport back and hiked the last 5km's and got my compostela and enjoyed the cathedral in the late afternoon. I should have just hiked the last 5km's into the city.

There used to be many more overflow beds available. The Colegiata were forced to close them in April 2017 because the overflow accommodation did not meet the standards required by local regulations.
Do you know what their capacity was before they had to close the overflow area?

The most reliable and best informed source is probably forum member @Ianinam who is involved in volunteering as hospitaleros/as for the Roncesvalles albergue.

In August 2021:
Years ago we had approx. 400 beds. Apart from the albergue itself (183 beds) we had beds in portocabins and in so-called borda's on the campamento, furthermore we had the sótano with 40 beds. Since a few years we are not allowed to use the Campamento due to government regulations, and we are no longer allowed to use the sótano due to fire-safety regulations. We still use the overflow of the 'winter albergue' with 20 beds.

In September 2022:
This year the albergue in Roncesvalles has increased the total number of beds. It used to be 217 beds, it is now 245 beds (28 extra beds in the basement).

May not be the largest albergue on the Camino, but the Municipal in OCebriero in 2016 felt enormous to me. One big room with four double bunks touching with very narrow aisles between sets of bunks and gear had to be stored under and around bunks. Must have been at least 100 bunks. And it was full! Needless to say, a poor night’s sleep. Walked as far as Fonfria the next day and stayed in Pension A Roboleira with a superb communal dinner - one of the best albergues along the way.

In 2018 I stayed at the Albergue Ferramenteiro in Portomarin when all the albergues were full. It has 130 beds in ONE room. They make it a little easier to find your bed by dividing up the room with curtains. I felt like I was staying in an army hospital. But it was the first night for all the Spanish pilgrims walking from Sarria, so after they all had dinner at 9 pm, it was lights out and not a sound. Even at 2 am when I got up to use the washroom, not a single sound - not even anyone snoring! While it isn't the largest albergue, I think it probably has one of the largest number of people sleeping in one room.
