DO NOT USE the wise pilgrim app for the San Salvador as it is way out of date and at one point diverts to what is a fairly dangerous track! I used it last Oct. The WP app for the Primitivo is fine. However, I suggest you look at WIKILOC if you use that you do not have to keep looking at your phone as it beeps if you move off track by a 100m or so and they definitely have a great track for the Primitivo.I am interested in this thread too as I would like to get some offline maps (linked to GPS) for the Madrid, San Salvador and Primitivo. Wisely and/or Wise Pilgrim seem to get OK reviews. Mel

It does not use any phone credit but I guess it must use some data for the maps. However, neither the data use or battery use was significant. I ran wikiloc and another tracking app for most days and neither was an issue. I think it offered an option to use the maps off line but cannot remember. However, the tracking would still work without data you would just not see the map, but you would see the proposed track and your location.I've heard of Wikilocs before, and it sounds great - especially as I'm led to believe it can be used while offline? But my questions are a) How badly does it drain the phones battery, and b) does it use any data or phone credit at all?
JennyHas anyone used the Madrid Way App by Peregrino Online? There is a free basic one and a premium version for which you pay a nominal amount. i have had problems with buying a kindle guide from Amazon in the past so I dont want to go down that route again.

I used the Premium version for the Silver Way (VDLP), the GPS overlay did not work on my android phone. It did however, work on my friend's Iphone.Has anyone used the Madrid Way App by Peregrino Online? Hmm, I used the WP app for the Salvador without much problem, though I do remember at least one place where I didn't follow it.
