Medina de Rioseca albergue closed indefinitely ...... and then reopened!

The convent albergue closed yesterday - it doesn't look as though it will reopen any time soon.

I saw this notice on the Camino Mendocino facebook page:
'Albergue del peregrino del monasterio de Santa Clara en Medina de Rioseco, permanecerá cerrado apartir del dia 31/03/2019 indefinidamente.
Disculpen las molestias'


It's a pity that last year's reopening didn't work out.

It seems that the albergue has reopened. See post #5 below.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Oh that is very sad. Very sad that the original sisters left - after more than 500 years. It was great that the Brazilian group came so quickly. I wonder have they gone, or just closed the albergue? I still feel privileged to have been one of the very last to stay, a week before the Poor Clares left...

A week after the albergue closed 'indefinitely', it seems to have reopened!

'El Albergue del Peregrino de Medina de Rioseco vuelve a estar abierto.
(Nuevos Cambios)
-Precio: La voluntad lo que el corazón de cada persona quiera aportar.( No se deja de acoger al peregrino por no poder aportar ningún dinero.)
-No se Admiten reservas.
-Se pediran documentos de identidad y credencial.
Gracias por su atención'.
