Time of past OR future Camino
2017 bike, solo & lost, SJPP-Santiago via Napoleon Route
I rode the Camino in May, solo, Napolean route. While being physically destroyed on day 1, I would fall back on a video I watched, "I'll Push You", a Calvin College lecture.
Today at 6AM, by chance, I met them. We were on the same flight from Boise to LAX.
Their premier showing, a Fandango special event, is this Thursday nationwide.
I bought my tickets online yesterday. They are amazing, upbeat & inspiring.

Sometimes it's a small world indeed! I sent a Christmas letter in late 2014 to an old high school friend who had moved to Idaho years earlier, telling her that I was planning to walk my first Camino in Spain in the following spring of 2015. She responded that her son had met two young men at his college who were also planning the same Camino; one was going to walk while pushing his friend in a wheelchair. They were going to call their story "I'll Push You". :)

I've seen this twice, and my wife has seen it at least 10 tines as the senior programmer for the Newport Beach Film Festival where it Sold Out 5 times! We have our tickets for Thursday. If you get to see it, you will understand ...

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
The 2nd it is -

My wife and I went to a Fathom Events at our local theater last night and watched "I'll Push You". A great documentary about two friends one immobile and in a wheel chair and his best friend walking the France route from St Jean Pied deport to Santiago. It was professionally filmed and a good watch. I work with people with disabilities and am looking forward to a DVD coming out so I can share it with my patients.

Saw it last night with a couple fellow peregrinas. Very nice take on the Camino - more about dedication and community than most stories. In fact it helped me to articulate the key descriptors to what about the Camino that I long to recapture and maintain in my life. Buen Camino!

My son and I who have walked three Caminos together went to see the movie last night. So glad it was playing in our nearby city! Those two men are amazing! When telling my husband later about the movie (he didn't go with us as he said he's watched many Camino utube videos with me over the past couple of years) and the special friendship the men shared, I shed many a tear in the telling...such a humbling and remarkable story! Truly amazing!

I saw it last night too and thought it was wonderful!

This is great, will have to see it. I'm curious - was the pilgrim in the wheelchair able to get a Compostela despite not walking or biking?

They didn't show or mention a Compostela. In fact, they didn't even show the cathedral. I don't think that receiving a Compestela was their goal.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
In my experience working as a volunteer at the pilgrim office, the answer is "yes." The premise is that, as long as the person in the wheelchair assists in the motivation (movement) of the chair, it is all good. As this fellow could use his hands, at times, to help wheel or stabilize the chair, he "did" the Camino.

This said, I have only seen this once or twice during the times I have been there over four years.

Besides, would YOU refuse it?

I wouldn't refuse it, hands or no hands! In fact I would give him two Compostelas...one for each wheel! :)

Absolutely not! I'm considering the pilgrimage and face challenges regarding walking. In doing research on the topic, I discovered that pilgrims must walk at least 100km irrespective of disabilities to receive a Compostela, so I was wondering if the gentleman being pushed would qualify.

I saw this movie with 13 people of our local Camino chapter; we all loved it. I thought the best part is when several fellow pilgrim's waited for the two and said they had planned to wait and help.

The only thing I didn't like was the shaky photography, as if someone was wearing a body camera, for most of the film. Otherwise, great film.

• If a pilgrim with disabilities makes as much effort as is reasonably practicable to make the pilgrimage with as much help as is needed and if their motives are spiritual, then they will receive a Compostela. However, each case will be considered on its merits.
• The Pilgrim’s Office is neutral about support vehicles and whether or not pilgrims carry anything themselves. The only requirement is that they walk (or journey in their wheelchair for example) for the last 100 km. peregrinossantiago.es/eng/contacto/# - unQuote

My wife and I watched the movie in a Boston suburb. We found it very inspiring. We had happened upon Justin and Patrick twice on our 2014 Camino. The first time we saw them was just after their O’Cebreiro ascent, when they had the “full complement” of fellow peregrinos helping them over this rugged area. One of our dinner companions that night was Christy, a Wheaton College student, who became part of this support team and was a deserved cast member. Based on our experience, a Camino can be a life-changing experience. We found Patrick’s transformation especially powerful.
