OH o, Orrison Booked out, No tent-ideas?

Lorraine

New Member
Orrison is booked out for 6th/9/13. I'll be pretty tired at this stage (early morn flights etc.) any ideas where else I could stay nearby? I'm not bringing a tent?
Eeeks.
T T Thanks all.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Maybe you can walk the Valcarlos road. If you don't want to do that, try making a réservation at Hunto for your first night instead of staying in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port; it makes the walk to Roncesvalles more manageable.

Lorraine,

Here is a link to the Valcarlos albergue as mentioned by CaminoGen

What time will you be arriving in SJPdP?

In Saint-Jean the office for the Amis du Chemin de Saint Jacques at 39 rue de la Citadelle usually stays open for the arrival of the last train and is open from 7h30 to 12h30 and then from 13h30 to 22h. They can provide you with a Credential and on-site lodging assistance. They keep up to the minute lists of available space throughout the SJPdP area. By the way the station in St Jean is miniscule and closes for the night after the last train arrives.

Here is a link to the SJPdP tourist bureau list of all the pilgrim albergues.

Good luck and Buen Camino,

Margaret Meredith

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

There are plenty of places to stay in SJPdP and the pilgrims office there is very friendly and helpful and will help you to find a bed. No worries and Buen Camino! SY

You could try Huntto - Albergue Ferme Ithurburia. It has 22 pilgrim beds plus some private rooms. However it is only 5.6 kms from SJPP compared to Orisson which is 8 kms from SJPP. The phone number at Huntto is 0559 371 117 - I do not know their email address but you could use google to find out

Unless you are committed to the Napoleon, take the Val Carlos route - I found it beautiful, engaging and enough of a challenge to open the hips and test the knees. The Albergue is a delight. The way marking was excellent in April 2012 and historic accounts on this forum of lost ways can be safely ignored.

Thank you soo much guys esp. kinky one for link. Yep I'm staying in Huntto. I booked it before I read your replies.....Eeeks hope I don't regret your advice Tincatinker!
Getting very excited. Lovin you all, much appreciation for all the help.
