Out the door by 5 with my headlamp on, leading me to the trail.
Throughout the morning 🌄 I was walking on dirt and gravel trails with no shade to be found.
During the morning I came upon two large white dogs barking and growling at me, not allowing me to pass. A short time later they both walked up and wanted to say hello.
They walked with me for about a kilometer and after numerous head pats and belly rubs they ran back in the direction to where I had originally found them.
Later I passed a large sign indicating I had officially left Toscana (Tuscany) and had now entered the Lazio region, where Rome, my ultimate destination is located.
Seeing this, coupled with knowing I was now less than 100 miles from the St. Peter's square reminded me to take pause and live in the moment until I step foot in that square.
