Route to Oseira

A selection of Camino Jewellery
having not long been back from hiking from almeria to santiago which included a detour to oseira.the fairly traffic free route was good, with the added bonus of excellent valley views.
a big plus point was the newish albergue.highly rated with the under floor heating.the route back onto the sanabres is also lovely.mainly tracks and again great views.well worth doing.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
You come down into a valley from a wooded ridgeline to reach Oseira, and the views are very nice.
I don’t remember the views on arrival, but I definitely remember taking a walk up behind the monastery in the late afternoon. The view back down to the complex was really beautiful, sort of like the view you get on your entry into Samos or the view back to the monastery on the way out of the valley in Valdedios. I see you don’t need more encouragement, so I’ll just give you a pat on the back for having made such a wise decision to go to Oseira.😀

It's a nicer walk than the other way which involves quite a bit of road walking.
Try not to be there on a Monday because both bars are closed.

I'll be walking the Sanabres a similar time as Jill. All of the positive reports of going to Oseira has me on board, too.👍

Thankfully, I see I will be arriving at Oseira on a Tuesday...whew!

For anyone wanting to go to Vespers at Oseira, we learned the drill the hard way. Find out the time of the last guided tour of the day. When you buy the ticket for that tour in the gift shop, tell them you want to attend Vespers. A monk will retrieve you at the end of the guided tour. The monks chant Vespers in Spanish, and it was a highlight of our camino.
