Starting from SJPP May 1

Getting to SJPP is almost all arranged (got some great deals on flights!). By happenstance, these arrangements have us starting our walk on May 1 which, of course, is a holiday. How problematic is that? Should we stay another night in SJPP and start on May 2? We are hoping to be able to stay at Orisson but imagine the demands on that location at that time of year are high.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
SJPdP is a tourist town, so you won't find many closures for the holiday. Lots of pilgrims may be starting, so get reservations in place for SJPdP and Orisson, and even Roncesvalles which will take 60 reservations each day.

Buen camino.

I am also starting around the same date as you..booking flight this week..would you mind sharing your travel plans?..are you flying from Toronto to CDG?and if so how are you getting to SJDPP...

A guide to speaking Spanish on the Camino - enrich your pilgrim experience.
We are flying from Toronto to Amsterdam on AirTransat. We're spending 4 days there and then heading to Biarritz (Amsterdam to London Stansted on EasyJet and the London to Biarritz on RyanAir) and then the train to SJPP.

This is a post-retirement trip so we have the luxury of time. We're hoping the tulips will be in bloom in the Netherlands.

I am also starting from SJPP on may 1 st. I'm planning on flying into CDG and taking the train and overnighting in Bayonne

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
