Several and counting...
We have heard over the past few weeks about the suspension of Danilo's ferry to cross from Corte San Andrea to his own back garden on the way to Piacenza, on the VF. For so many people it is one of the highlights of the trip. This is due to low water levels in the Po, the longest river in Italy. Tobias Jones documents the sad story of the river in today's Observer in UK.

While the ferry is suspended, it is easy to continue on the same side of the Po and cross the bridge at Piacenza.

Too many and too often!
There must also be a reduction in mozzies too which makes the detour a bit more bearable.
I walked along the river bank to Piacenza and the bridge. Warm sunny August day with very few mozzies. There were far worse sections for them! But I must confess that when I saw the article they were one of the first things to spring to mind. A very small piece of silver lining.
