Transport from Bilbao to Unquera

Time of past OR future Camino
December 2022
I’m coming back!

Flying into Bilbao to restart my Camino Norte. I’ll arrive late evening so would like a place to stay.

I’ll catch a bus the next day from there to Unquera with a noon departure. Can anyone recommend a place to stay with easy access from the airport and to the bus station that is also in an area I can find a vodaphone or orange tienda in the morning.

Also, the bus works but is inconvenient. Train doesn’t seem to be an option. Is it possible or reasonable to book a car for the 150 Km drive? I’m guessing to expensive for me?

Thank you in advance 🙏

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
We flew into Bilbao to continue our Camino del Norte/Primitivo two weeks ago. We took the bus to central Bilbao from the airport. It leaves every twenty minutes or so. We had a hotel about a km from the Intermodal where we caught the bus to Llanes the next day. I think it was Hotel Conde Duque.
If you are traveling through the Madrid airport you can buy an Orange or Vodafone sim or esim in Terminal 4. I forgot the name of the shop, but it was quick and easy

I forgot the airport option…. I’m entering EU in Bilbao though. Maybe the airport will have tienda? I get in pretty late though

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
