Camino del Norte - Ribadeo to Santiago ( September 2015)
We are arriving at the Asturias airport and want to travel to Ribadeo, are there any direct bus's to Ribadeo and do we have to bus to Aviles and then to Ribadeo

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

As I can see on Alsa web page there are several direct buses from Oviedo (not from airport though) to Ribadeo per day. The ride takes about 3,5hrs and costs 17€. I searched for Tuesday 9th June:

EDIT: the link respond error as I see now. Try yourself, just put in start and end point and date:

There might be other bus companies covering that distance also.

Ultreia!

I think only the local Aena buses leave from the airport - you could catch one of these (or get a taxi) the relatively short distance to Piedras Blancas, from where you can catch an Alsa bus or even hop on the Feve, which as you probably know is the lovely narrow gauge railway which runs along the coast (it takes a little longer but totally worth it if you enjoy the scenic route!)

Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).

Aeropuerto de Asturias-Aviles, by bus every hour and after Avilés-Ribadeo, I think there are five buses a day. Aviles question if there is any direct bus to save a lot of stops. The company is ALSA

Aviles you can also take FEVE, but must change at Pravia and takes longer.

Thanks for your help, looking froward to our walk in September, for me finishing my walk on the the Norte, for my friend an introduction to the Camino which I hope she enjoys as much as I did

Sounds fab! You should think about starting a day earlier from Tapia de Casariego (with the albergue on the cliff), as it's a nice day's beach walking before going inland… Whatever you do, I'm sure you'll both have a wonderful time! x

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Jan_D thanks for that, it would be nice but sadly this time I do not have the luxury of 6 weeks off work, so have to make the best of the time we will have to walk from Ribadeo to Santiago and spend a couple of day there before heading back to NZ
