Vía de la Plata gaining traffic

The Association of Friends of the Camino de Sevilla / Vía de la Plata has announced that 1600 walkers have reached Santiago on this route during this year. Their share of all pilgrims is still low (1,4%) but it doubles from year to year, as it says in the Voz de Galicia:
http://www.lavozdegalicia.es/santiago/2007/10/30/0003_6272641.htm

The advantages of the Vía de la Plata compared to the camino frances seem to be its drier climate and that its original course hasn't been effected as much by advancing industrialization.
