Hi all

I'm preparing to walk my third camino next year and would like some information on the Via de La Plata.

Can anyone recommend some good guide books and websites?

Many thanks and god bless you all

Guidebook to Via de la plata

I recommend Walking the Via de la Plata by Ben Cole and Bethan Davies. Available through Amazon. More useful/reliable than Alison Raju's guidebook.

Their website - http://www.pilipalapress.com - has an Updates section for the book.

Good luck with the journey - it's a wonderful experience.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Alison Raju,s book "Via de la Plata. The way of St James: Sevilla/Granada to Santiago" is coming in a new edition now. This edition also include the alternative starting point in Granada. I bought it from Amazon in November, but now it is said to come in February 2006. The announced one has the same ISBN-number as the one I have bought: 1852844442. It,s smal and compact and therefore possible to carry with you. Is it good? I can tell when I am back home in May.

Two good webaddresses not mentioned yet:

http://www.caminolinks.co.uk is very useful. You will find a lot of good links to Via de la Plata. There is also Photo Links to Via de la Plata there.

But when I want to dream of me Camino next spring, I go to a spanish address (although I can only a few spanish words). http://www.godesalco.com. There are for example good information on places to stay at night, but if you go to "Mapa de la ruta" and "klikk" on the places mentioned, you will find 144 pictures from Sevilla to Finesterre. Those pictures made me want to go Via de la Plata! You can also find what they call a "Planificador" there. You can select the end-points of your camino and at the end of the prosess, you will end up with a "grafe" that you can print, that shows distances, places to stay, height profile and so on. Since I have not been on Via de la Plata yet, this is my "dreaming-on-the web-place". Bjørg
