What are the showers like - hooks walls?

Getting very excited about our Camino in Aug/Sept and trying to weigh and pack lite but take a few gadgets that might make things easier. Can anyone describe or have a picture of an average shower? Would taking some "S" type hooks to put over the wall of the shower to hang things on help to keep them from getting wet? Or do the showers not have walls like toilet stalls? If taking valuables, clean clothes, towel in what do most do to keep them dry while showering?

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Lyndale,

On the camino there is no such element as an 'average shower'. The one commonality is they all have water, but not necessarily hot. Most are separated by sex and have either curtains or dividing walls. Many spray everywhere but on you; others have a control which has to be almost constantly pushed to keep the water coming. Drains are not so great either. Nevertheless like all pilgrims you will go with the flow and cope.

Do take your valuables into the shower with you. A large Ziplock plastic bag is handy for this. Your clean clothes might hang over the rod if there is one or be set nearby out of the spray radius.

Happy washing and Buen Camino,

Margaret Meredith

A small hook on a suction cup can be very handy.
You also have to very careful to not take too many "nice to have" items as the really add up and you will just discard them early on.
Put all of the "might need" in a pile together and weigh them.

There is no such thing as a "typical" shower.

I used to take a large-sized ziplock bag to put my passport, cc's, cash, and other valuables into the shower with me. If you hang them, I'd hang them at waist height.. not up high where someone can grab them and run.

Now, I have a waterproof nysil bag I put them in. I either hang them if there's a hook, or I put them on a shelf. There is often a small seat where you can put your dry clothes. I've never taken a hook. I've always been able to figure out what to do with them.

If you are going as a couple, this is simpler.
One of you showers while one of you watches your stuff.

Ha, yah those were annoying. Push the button, 5 seconds of water, push the button, 5 more seconds. I eventually noticed that, to shut off, it slowly depressed out of the wall (I guess on a spring) so I began just scrubbing one handed with the other hand holding down the button.
