Hey... I am on Via de la Plata right now... a few days in... and it is once again absolutely wonderful!!!

My only fear is bed bugs....

all the other pilgrims have walked the Frances... and so they have bed bug horror stories. I walked the vdlp before and never had this issue (knock on wood) and I
don´t know if it is something common here or not?

Does anyone have any updates or knowledge of any albergues to avoid due to bed bugs on vdlp???

I always check every bed (5* or albergue just the same). I've walked the VdlP last year and saw no evidence of BB not did I see any on the Sureste during the last few weeks. More people and more beds increases the risk on the Frances but many albergues are very good at dealing with them. So best thing is look before you stop!

Bed bugs can appear anywhere, a VDlP albergue, or the Ritz, from one day to the next. Some prevention as on the Frances: spray your backback on the outside of what ever you use at bedtime, be it a sleeping bag, etc. My guess is that with so many VDLP albergues offering clean sheets and fully made up beds that there may be fewer bb.

Just back from cycling the VdlP and had no problems at all. Good idea of Anemones to spray your pack/sl'bag - i may do that next time. (but will i get stick from other pilgrims for having 'smelly' kit...?!

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Walked the VdlP and Frances twice and never had a problem. However, I do make it a practice to spray my liner, sleeping bag, and backpack with bug repellent. I have heard the horror stories from others I trust about their adventures with bed bugs. Bottom line - it's just a question of odds and my guess they are relatively low.

It doesn't smell at all. No worries.

Just walked Seville to Salamanca and no problems.
