Which Camino do I choose?

Time of past OR future Camino
June/July 2011 and 2013
Howdy from Texas, y'all:

In 2011, I walked from Pamplona to Sahagun, took a train and bus to Sarria, then walked on into Santiago. Next summer, I am meeting several of my walking companions in either Leon or Sahagun, and walking with them from there to Santiago. I was thinking of walking from Madrid to Sahagun, but I also wouldn't mind walking from LePuy across the mountains. Or maybe the Camino del Norte, along the coast. Any recommendations? :D

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Partly it depends on the time you have available for the journey, and the expected weather during the season you select, and your budget. I thoroughly enjoyed walking the Le Puy route, and recommend it highly. Although I have not walked the Camino in Spain, many other who have, have commented how different the experience is, between walking in France and walking in Spain.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

OK, here's the plan: I will walk from Irun along the Camino del Norte, then head south at some point to meet with friends in Sahagun and Leon. A friend who lives in Spain, with whom I walked my first Camino, is joining me and so is involved in the planning, but I wonder if anybody out there has recommendations on where to turn south, and how long it will take to get from Irun to Sahagun?

Johnnyman:

Why not just walk the Camino Vasco? It begins in Irun and intersects the Frances at Santa Domingo de la Calzada. From there it is another 7-9 days to Sahagan. About 16-18 days of walking. There ae very few Pilgrims on this walk. If you want more detail PM me or email me at jpflavin@msn.com.

Well, my friend and I want to hug the coast as much as possible. I'll check out the Camino Vasco. About 16-18 days of walking from Irun to Sahagun?

NOTE: I just looked at the Vasco route, and neither one of us are keen on retracing our steps. In other words, re-visiting the parts of the Camino we walked in 2011, out of Longrono and through Burgos and such. We want to see new areas, and then join up with friends to walk the parts of the Camino Frances that we missed by jumping ahead from Sahagun to Sarria :)

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

What about the Camino Vadiniense? It goes south off the Norte and joins the Frances just before Leon.
