Dear caminowalkers,

Does anyone know which part of the camino in France or North Spain has the less asphalt on a strech of 600 kilometers? I am leving soon, in a week or tow, for 5 weeks or so.

I walked woith a lot of pleasure Via de la plata. I am crazy about nature and not asphalt tracks.. so which part can you folks advice me?

The Camino Frances crosses three mountain ranges, riverine valleys and granite hills. You’ll trek through vineyards, large tracts of agricultural fields, through woods, forests, hills and mountains. Split into ‘paths, quiet roads and main roads’, the 800 km from St Jean to Santiago is comprised of:
505 km paths/tracks
203 km quiet roads – mostly through small villages
91 km main roads – mostly into and out of towns and villages

& if you go the Dragonte route you can reduce that 91kms to 60kms & have a wonderful time, watch Gunnars film no.10 I think. Take a pen so the locals can do you a personal sello

!!! And try to arrive at an hour precisely at the little church of Vilar de Corales...
Yes, the personal sellos were funny. I had to do it more often.

There is almost no main road walking on the Voie du Puy. Some minor roads, but very little traffic.

I would be interested in this question in relation to the Vezelay route as to how much asphalt. We are walking 3 weeks from Vezelay. Is it as good (scenic, few roads) as the Le Puy route?
