    Credentials in Porto

Hi Onur I got the credencial on a Sunday at the catedral in Porto. I don't remember exactly what time I arrived, somewhere around mid-afternoon, and it was quick and easy, just a desk to the right of the entrance that had them. Have a wonderful camino!

Two questions: getting to the start, and an extra short first day

Thanks Julia-T, we're on the same wavelength about the romance of walking from one country to another! I appreciate the pointers. The link that you shared is the one that I've look at, which funnily enough will let me book the early morning or later evening train, but not the many mid-day...

    Credentials in Porto

Hi Shian, Can I ask how it went for you to get your credencial? I'm thinking to pick ours up from the Cathedral in Porto on a Sunday afternoon. Though I also understand that if you need to start without a credencial, you can just collect the sellos en-route and then transfer them to the...

Two questions: getting to the start, and an extra short first day

Hello, I'll be traveling from Porto by train to Valenca in late July, to start the camino there. My first question: I was unable to reserve a train ticket between the two towns. I inquired with the company, who let me know that you can only buy tickets for that trip at the station (other...

    Lots of different km estimates

Great input, thank you all. I think that we have enough time to accommodate up to 120 km (or, of course, whatever that illusive distance is that we actually walk), and I won't think too hard on the actual numbers in any case. I'd love to just walk and let whatever comes, come, without worrying...

    Lots of different km estimates

Ola peregrin@s I'll be walking from Tui or Valenca to Santiago in late July, and am confused by the different km estimates that I've seen. Other pilgrims (whose threads I've now lost) spoke of Tui being 102 km from Santiago, I've also seen estimates ranging up to 122 km. This last was in the...

    Sleeping bag liner sufficient?

Hi all, I'll be doing the last 100 km of the camino portugués in late July, staying mostly (or always) at albergues. How hot should I anticipate it to be at night, and would a sleeping bag liner or doubled sheet that I sew up be sufficient? Do most albergues provide bedding and blankets? Do...

    Tips for a tight budget?

I appreciate it, thanks all. And I likely would have assumed that anything placed on the table in addition to what I'd ordered at a restaurant would be included, so nice to have that heads up too! Buen caminos all

    Tips for a tight budget?

Thanks Falcon, I hadn't realized that about fire stations (interesting even if no longer a frequent option)

Are mosquitos & other insects an issue?

Haha, thank you all, I appreciate the insights. I sense it might be less of an issue than it has been in some areas, but that I shouldn't discount it altogether. A otros desafíos!
