I find walking with poles keeps me more upright, and takes some of the pressure off my lower back. If I walk without poles for more than 2 hours I get a sore lower back that I need to stretch out after. Also, doing some stretching (lower back stretches that work for me) at the end of the day...
Just do do the multi-trip option. We flew from Calgary to Paris return, then booked a flight one-way from Santiago back to Paris before our return flight home. That way you can spend some time in Paris if you like. As a note, we flew from Paris via Easy Jet to Biarritz then got a transport to St...
My wife had shin splint issues before we started our first Camino and thanks to a doctor along the way, she was told to not lace her high top boots all the way to the top, if that’s what you are wearing. The last two Camino’s we have done she did in low cut footwear.
Cheers,
Bill
Try this link. It’s not a guidebook but the accommodations has been updated and the route/itinerary is also available for the complete route including south of Rome.

You can bypass Orisson and walk from SJPP to Rocanvalles, a longer but rewarding day. Or if the walk is too strenuous, take a taxi from SJPP to Orisson, have a coffee con leche in Orisson and walk to Rocanvalles. I liked starting in SJPP, so these are my options fir you.
Monteroni d
Monteroni d’Arbia in Tuscany on the via Francigena. Almost any day in Tuscany was beautiful but this day was my favorite. Also, first day out of SJPDP is a fond memory.
CPAP machines are not an issue for me but I have only slept in a dorm room once with one going. As for power, take an extension cord with a few outlets on one end then you only need one converter at the wall. I did this on our Camino for my phone, camera, my wife’s phone, etc.
Bon Camino!
This my opinion. Start in St. Jean and walk for 5 days. You will be walking with other people who are just starting, the excitement, the people, the newness of the pilgrim meals, the albergues, etc. We have done three Caminos (Francis, Portugal and Via Francigena in Italy), and I remember the...
The last book I created was with Blurb and the results were great. I was told about this product by a gentleman we met on our Portuguese Camino who lives in the UK. When I went on their site and registered just to see what was available and some pricing, I was given a discount on my first book...
Here’s an update I sent to my friends in an email. Hope it helps.
We have a myriad of questions that we would like to pose to you as our “advance guard” in Italy. We hope not to overwhelm you but here goes….
What guide book did you use? And how useful was it? Were the maps solid and...
For the route and some background, we downloaded 2 apps - Sloways and Via Francigena. They were perfect for keeping you on route , distances, etc. We found the Sloways app a little faster but both were invaluable. Combined with some accommodations that have been listed, you should be good to go...
I wore a low cut trekking boot (Trexstar) for our Portuguese Camino in 2017 and my feet were tired by the end of the day - the cobblestone in Portugal is very hard on your feet - I was 68 at the time. I really wish I had my high top hiking boots. We only started in Porto so once we were in...
I used Wordpress for a couple Camino ‘s and vacations and it worked well but if WiFi or cellular was weak, It either took a long time to upload pictures or it didn’t work and I waited until reception was better. We just finished the Via Francigena and I used instagram. It only allows 10 images...
