Millbank filter, that takes me back to my Army days! I was also posted once to Millbank where the bag was designed. A little slow but effective and comes in two sizes for group and individual use.
Never use your card in a bank ATM if the bank is closed. If there is a problem and the ATM retains your card you cannot get it back until the bank opens.
I started in Santiago and walked to Muxía then Fisterra and onwards to Santiago and the Office gave me a Compostela and Certificate of Distance for the whole distance. So I am not sure about your emphasis on the START.

I'm a GPS person, I like to know where I am and where to go. I produce my own gpx files and use them in various ways. OSMAnd is a useful app for using GPX files and Open Street Maps on an Android device, there are equivalents for Apple devices.
I always hold my camera up and look questioningly at the person, if it is a polite nod then I take a photo, if the indication is a finger pointed at his hat then I go donativo, if it is a negative gesture then I move on. The guy playing the bagpipes usually turns his back.

One problem with the Coastal route(s) is that they seem to be variable and thus the marking possibly confusing: the Senda Litoral, the da Costa (via Vigo) the da Costa (via Valenca). Open Street Maps (OSM) now has the Costa route via Vigo as the 'official'...
