    Niggling hates (dislikes) on Camino

Entitled frequent walkers who start every conversation with "how good it used to be".

    Changes to the Camino

I can't imagine how fantastic that was for you and your grandsons. Bravo! I've seen it swing as well. I could care less if patrons support it. Good for them and good for the support of the Cathedral.

Camino Ninja vs Wise Pilgrim Comparison?

There’s a lot to be said for being technology sober. This social media site is great for research prior but I just use a pedometer and map during the day.

Has anyone use Pilbeo for transfers ?

I've used them a couple of times on the Frances. Good app and easy to book. I did have a bag mistakingly get picked up by a bus after they had dropped it off. They were genuinely panicked trying to find it even though it was no fault of their own. Always use AirTags or tile. It saved me. I...

    Changes to the Camino

I have a slightly different Frances slant than the OP. While I saw some moments blemished like boom box music at Alto de Perdo, the distractions were few and far between. Obviously, it gets busier after Sarria. Why would you not expect that? This year, I found that about 30% of the people I...

    Changes to the Camino

I think at this point if you are a frequent flyer on the Frances you should expect to be disappointed. Just do one of the other routes?

    Changes to the Camino

The prices have gone up about the same as my hometown of Asheville. Why would you expect them to be immune to cost increases?

Caution to the wind or planning safely? Which way should we travel?

I’ve done it both ways. I’d rather have reservations. It’s less to think about when I’m walking and minimizes looking at my phone determining possibilities. To each their own. I don’t judge the choice.

    Goretex shoes?

I think it's good to have one pair that dries easily and lots of sock changes. I trained a lot in the heat and rain in Ft Lauderdale. I know what you mean :). Have a great time!

    Goretex shoes?

I take two pairs of shoes. One W/O gore tex and gore tex boots. I walked in a fair amount of rain this year and my Salomon Goretex boots were a lifesaver. However, and it's a big however, it's important that the tongue is gore tex and when they are being used to either have gators or rain pants...

What do you normally do - Carry backpack or use transport service?

Got it and thanks for the response. I didn't think about it that way but you're right. When I'm walking it seems like everyone is pretty much the same because of the shared experience.

What do you normally do - Carry backpack or use transport service?

I use a transport service. I have travel planned on either side of the walk. Why do people think this forum isn't representative of most pilgrims?

Have You Heard of This Company?

I got quotes from them and they were fair and very responsive. I ended up doing the arrangements for both trips myself. I would just do what you're comfortable with. If you think you'll have a better time having someone else figure out the logistics and having them do the bookings, go that route.

Has the Camino Frances become a victim of its own success?

I just finished walking from Triacastela to SDC on Friday. It was the second time on the Frances for me. The irony that the people that complain about the crowds are all frequent flyers is inescapable. I don't think I met anyone that was doing it for the first time. Many >5 times. Plenty...
