I'm currently walking my first Camino and I have to say I've thought about the particular thread for a few days now as I've walked. It has really bothered me, and I wasn't sure why. What I do know is that I couldn't let it go without adding my input, for what it's worth.
I wasn't bothered by...
I have long thick hair and haven't had any problem getting it to dry before bed, even in some of the winter-like weather we've been having. I'd worry more about getting your socks dry by morning... :D
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but several people have arrived at my albergue today needing to be treated for bedbugs/possible bedbugs. I'm at an albergue early stage in Galicia, so apparently they've hatched somewhere behind us.
I'm framing mine as a symbolic and visual reminder of what I'm doing. It will have nothing to do with bragging. I've collected one stamp a day, and have worried about the days when I take a rest day and forget to collect a stamp. No tshirts or souvenirs at all. It's taking me twice as long as...
I am not going to have time to walk to Finisterre after I reach Santiago, but I'd like to see it before I go home. Is there a bus from Santiago? And are there hotels there?
Ok. I have to be honest here. This worries me. Because of my pace, I'm often in odd places alone. The mugging part is especially troubling. Any other suggestions for when I get to the places they are currently known to operate? I was just thinking today that I hadn't noticed nearly the problem...
I am currently on the Camino in León after starting in SJPdP. I have encountered many cyclists and have had no trouble hearing the bell or the spoken warning from behind. The cyclists have all been very courteous with their warnings. I wish I could say the same for the fast-walkers. I have been...
I did let them get away with it, sadly. I had just watched pilgrim after pilgrim turned away and sent on to Sahagún, so I guess I was just grateful to have a bed. I'm not sure what I should do if it were to happen again.
Speaking of Camino etiquette, last night I was at an albergue in Terradillos de Los Templarios. I arrived early, and was shown to my bed, a bottom bunk. I made my bed, then left to enjoy the nice weather outside. When I returned, I thought I was in the wrong room, because someone had moved my...
You won't find the answer to your question here. You won't know the hardest part for you until you've finished your Camino. And it may very well be in the least likely of all places. Take each day as it comes. If you go into a day assuming it will be hard, you'll be right. Buen Camino!
My question to the 2 guys who posted about poo paper is, where are you finding enough privacy to poo on the trail. I can't even get a moment alone for a quick pee. Haha! All of my TP use has been in actual toilets so far, as a result.
I'm walking my Camino right now. Started in SJPdP on May 5. One thing I've noticed everywhere I go is orange peels on the trail. People sit down on a flat rock along the way, peel their orange, then just leave the peels right there on the ground. I've discovered something in my time on the path...
