Alternative to walking to O Cebreirio

La Faba has a fine albergue run by the German confraternity and a nice family café in town. That leaves a nice morning climb (hopefully in fog) to O Cebriero in time for café con leche and a nice downhill.

    Sock problem

We walked CF from SJPdP last September in Keen Mids. When the feet were hot, everything was hot. Due to the high rate of blisters and foot problems on the Camino, I recommend a liner sock then a synthetic sock that dries quicker than wool, such as those by Nike or Puma. consider reducing...

    Dealingwith the heat

I agree with the early start; the birds and roosters are great before sunrise. Salt supplement is helpful along with all the water. Broad-brimmed hats with ties are great.

We started at SJpdP last Sept 5. It was in the 80's by late afternoon encouraging early morning start with the roosters. By Leon the temperatures were cooler with warm rain in Galicia. I rarely wore long shirts or long pants.

    The need for a headlight

Last Septe;mber on the Camino Frances we usually hit the trail (or cafe) by 7 am. Sun was up after 8am, so headlight was essential. I suggest getting a headlamp with red option which is more acceptable in albergues.

    Don't skimp on the shoes

On the Camino Frances Sept 2014 the most common health problem I encountered related to feet. We went with medium weight above ankle boots (KEEN) for ankle support on down hill stretches. Practice on downhill stretches to be sure your feet don't slide. We also used glide and a liner sock, with...
