What if...
We started in Santiago in August....
and walked south to Seville?
It seems we'd hit better weather... fewer people... as we went south ???
Thoughts?
Feedback?
Ok.. this is the 3d time I"ve posted this. I keep hitting the "save'" button! I'm computer illiterate I guess.
::::laughing:::
You got no argument here.. just plain old SHOCK!
So it sounds like it would be crazy to attempt the route in Fall.
Spring, it is!
Now... what's the best month to...
With all due respect, the highest temperatures I've found for Seville in August is 35 degrees C.
Where in the world did you get the temperature of 50 degrees?
There is a HUGE difference between 122 degrees F and 95 degrees F.
One will kill you and the other might actually be comfortable for...
John,
Please keep us posted on your progress!
I'm especially interested because I want to walk the VDLP this time next year, or perhaps one month earlier.
I'll be anxiously awaiting your report!
Buen Camino!
Deborah
I keep trying to post this and I'm saving it instead... so forgive me if this is a repeat...
I'd like to start the VDLP in August or September, hopefully avoiding so much of the cold wet weather up in Galicia at the end of the trip.
I hear it is HOT.. but HOW hot?
Is it really unbearably hot...
Meseta Blues
Ahh yes... this is where I beat my palo over a huge rock in a moment of meseta madness, in an attempt to bust it into a million pieces. The palo prevailed... didn´t even dent the danged thing. My hand on the other hand was sorely bruised. I ended up tossing the palo onto...
Men and Women
Wow, you are really lucky John, that the bedbugs caused you so little discomfort. I have seen people with the skin literally hanging off of their legs from the reaction and people with welts the size of a half dollar or larger.
For some weird reason, the bugs seem to pester...
Bedbugs
Sil, itŽs very possible. Most of the people IŽve seen have huge welts.
But I did meet a French man who along with the welts had large open places where the skin was falling off. These were the size of silver dollars.. red and oozing.. and were due to the reaction to the bedbugs.
I...
Netting and bugspray
In my humble opinion, this netting would be a waste of money. The bugs are so tiny, they could get through the net when nits. Also, they attach themselves to your backpack, shoes, clothes, and sleeping bag and travel with you. So unless you superglue yourself inside the...
Last night we spent the night in LeonŽs refugio, Santa Maria Carbahal Benedictine Sisters. The Bedbugs were so bad that they said they would not open today so they could fumigate and take care of the problem. When we arrived, we had to take everything out of our backpacks and spray it with...
Two Seasons
Yup, my problem is the opposite. It will be HOT when we start September 1 and then probably COLD by the time we reach Finesterre mid October.
I've just got a few more days before I leave for europe and am torn about what to take. Will my lightweight Goretex jacket be enough if I...
Thanks
Thanks Wolverine,
I already bought the Airborne at Costco (great price) and I don't have any trouble dissolving it. Maybe Portland water has more chemicals in it! :::laughing::: I've been taking it and will continue to do so... but next time I'll try the EmergenC.
Thanks!
Me
Thanks
Thanks Ivar!
Maybe I'll trust St. James and only take one emergency packet of medicine - that way I can at least get to a pharmacy if I need to.
I'm hoping I'll just stay healthy... pray for me :)
