I just caught the bus from Muxia to Santiago last month. At 6:30 am there were a lot of pilgrims. The bus driver took on the people who already had tickets first. I bought mine online a few days before. Best to have PayPal setup.
I’m not sure why you say that few people have faith in the vaccine. I got Covid in April on a non- Camino trip. I’ve been vaccinated and boosted. I didn’t end up in a hospital or on a ventilator. I wouldn’t have traveled without the vaccine and am grateful that my case was mild despite my age...
We traveled out of the country and got Covid in April (I canceled my Portuguese Caminho scheduled for May because of fatigue). I recommend reading the CDC guidelines ahead of time to familiarize yourself with what's required. Friends who we traveled with and who were leaving the country before...
