Re-considering zip-off convertible pants
I tramp (hike for non-Kiwis) in shorts. I took two pairs of identical zip off pants but only one set of zip off bottoms and just zipped them on on cold evenings. The brand was McKinley, which I bought online. The only thing was the pockets were a little shallow.- Hikoi

Boxer shorts - any recommendations
I bought three pairs of boxers at Decathlon in Seville. I’m not sure why as my plan was a pair of everything else except for socks (for a lunchtime change if needed.) Sleeping bag on VdlP April & May
I left Seville on the 7th of April and took a silk inner and sleeping bag (good down to approx 0 degrees Celsius). I used it opened as a blanket and only closed it up a couple of nights - notably in the Monastery of Oseira! I did use gloves in the frosty mornings too.- Hikoi

Hey Rain - I did! Best decision I made. I used the hiking umbrella in very heavy rain on several days. It was spring! No poncho or waterproof. I’m going to use the same system again on my next Camino.- Hikoi

Pretty much the same time I walked the VdlP from Seville. Beautiful time to walk - cold, even frosty mornings (gloves needed) and sunny warm afternoons. Umbrella for sun and rain - buy good quality (expensive) or just use a cheap one?
I used a trekking umbrella from Helios in Australia on the Via de la Plata in spring. It rained quite a lot! I never put my rain jacket on - no sweaty shirts! How long did VDLP Seville to Santiago take you
I walked in spring from Seville. 37 days, including two rest days (Merida and Salamanca) and another couple enforced medical days (infected blisters) in Zafra. I felt it was a bit rushed and over too soon! My next one will be slower, I hope!- Hikoi

Waist Packs!
I found the front balance pockets hung looser off my chest - the weight of them is down on the waist belt. To boot there is little weight on the shoulders.- Hikoi

I used an Aarn pack. It has two integrated front ‘balance’ pockets which I found very handy for on the go access to water, snacks, phone etc. A little fiddly to get on and off at first, but by day three I was an expert. Took all the weight off my back too! It’ll be on my next Camino...- Hikoi

When I walked the VdlP in 2016 I stayed in the albergue in Tabara. Great hospitality - the hospitalero, José Almeida Rodríguez, met each pilgrim, helped us take off our packs, washed our clothes, cooked the communal dinner, washed the dishes and among other things, farewell each of us!
