Two pilgrims injured in an attack by a cow

There were many times I had to run the gamut of cattle on the VdlP. I was always extremely cautious and wary giving lots of space and avoiding calves. When possible I waited for other pilgrims. There was another recent case where pilgrims were chased up a tree. Some asked if perhaps the...

    Bed race on the VDLP…

I finished yesterday. Municipals and donativos were never full but twice I saw private albergues sell out. You meet more people as well. Anyway, it is your Camino, enjoy it. Buen Camino.

    Bed race on the VDLP…

You could try a municipal albergue. First come first served. There's one in Grimaldi, 12 beds only 8km from Canaveral. Almost everyone has to stay in Canaveral because it is 33 km from Casar de Caseres with nothing in between. Things should spread out a bit after that.

Alert Two reports of agressive dogs just after Oseira

The plan is to stay in Oseira Thursday leaving Friday morning. You can avoid Oseira all together by taking the left branch at Cea. I'll probably just join a few pilgrims leaving Oseira for the first hour or so as suggested by Gerald and others.

Alert Two reports of agressive dogs just after Oseira

I'm heading that way in a week. I may have to take the other route to avoid this situation.

Alert Two reports of agressive dogs just after Oseira

A third person reported a similar incident in response to the FB post you mentioned.

    Oseira Monestery

Has anyone stayed at the Monestery lately. I recall reading somewhere that you can stay in the Monestery (not albergue) if you stay a minimum of 2 nights. I'm wondering what the experience is like. Are you expected to meditate? Or can you move around? What is meal time like? What are the...

Why so few pilgrims on the Via de la Plata? Article from local website.

Planning to do the VdLP in March. I have not even done the Frances and perhaps I never will. I have no interest in bed races and hoards of people. I am glad it is still unpopular and provides a glimpse at what the Frances might have been like decades ago.

Where to start? Malaga, Almeria or Seville

Wow, that is the most comprehensive set of photos I've seen anywhere. Thank you. Looks like you had amazing weather too. I'm leaning towards starting in Seville, just for more company and infrastructure but your photos have me second guessing myself. I've already booked hotels for the week...

Very early flight time back home - when do you head to the airport?

Hostal Viky on booking.com says it operates a free 24 hour shuttle and a 5 minute drive to the airport. So is that not the case? USD67 per night. Hello Sky 215USD per night. I also have a 6AM flight time.

Where to start? Malaga, Almeria or Seville

Thank you for your reply. I am concerned about accommodation beyond Malaga during Easter week. Are there many albergues, or did you stay in private places? Also, did you find the olive grove monotonous?

Where to start? Malaga, Almeria or Seville

That's a little concerning about having to camp 4 nights. I am not bringing a tent, just a sleeping bag. Was that during Semana Santa?

Where to start? Malaga, Almeria or Seville

I am planning to walk starting the Monday after Palm Sunday (I already have reservations for Sat/Sun in Malaga and Seville) but I can't decide where to start. I will be walking alone and this is my second Camino having done the Portuguese last year. I do a lot of hiking and am not concerned...

LIVE from the Camino Walking the Via de la Plata with New Friends

Thank you for your posts - really enjoying your adventure. How cold does it get during the day? I have thought about doing the VdLP but not sure what time of year would be best. I was in Merida some 30 years ago - beautiful place. Good luck tomorrow.
