    April-May Trip Report

My feet did fine overall. They felt tired at the end of the day for sure, a bit achy, but never much pain at the end of the day. One I took my pack off and rested for a bit they were usually back to normal. I certainly didn't enjoy the rocky downhills (like going into El Acebo), but mostly...

    April-May Trip Report

Re: Rain, yeah-I was so lucky! It seemed like I was always a few days ahead or behind bad weather. On one of the worst rain days I just happened to be returning from Madrid and wasn't walking (the same when I left for Madrid). And I know the people just ahead of me spent a lot of time in rain...

    April-May Trip Report

Oh, it makes perfect sense why! If I wanted no road walking, I'd obviously need to go camping. So I'm not sure why I was surprised by it exactly...but it was one of the few things I didn't enjoy (which were few!) And thanks!

    April-May Trip Report

I've just returned home, and thought I'd share my experience. Of course, it's so different for everyone, but I thought I'd add my perspective. First to say, it was such an incredible experience! It was more than I could have hoped for, and nothing like I'd expected. It was so much better. So...

    Madrid Side Trip Logistics

I'm starting out from SJPP on the 22nd of April, but need to detour to Madrid for the weekend of May 1st (and rejoin after). Since I'm not certain where I'll be, I was hoping to grab a bus the morning of the 1st wherever I happen to have stopped (maybe around Belorado?) . But I'm a bit concerned...

Irish solo female travelling 21st April

Also hiking solo, starting the same day, flying Dublin to Biarritz on the 21st on Ryan Air. So perhaps we'll run into one another!

I'm planning on starting the 22nd! Perhaps we'll cross paths! Buen Camino!

If it's unlikely to be full, I'll probably go that route then. I'd prefer to be in the albergue, but didn't want to worry about finding a bed my first night. Thanks for the info! I'm an incredibly light sleeper, which is something I'll have to learn to deal with sooner or later!

That's reassuring! And good advice, thanks! I did have a bit of a panic after realizing how few days I have to train. I'm in good shape now, but more for short high intensity, high impact activities-so sort of the opposite of what I need! I did try a 28km walk the other day, just to see what it...

We've had ideal weather here, but without a car it looks like a fair amount of urban training! Hopefully I'll have enough time to get somewhat physically prepared :)

Just booked my flight to Biarritz from Dublin April 21st, to start in SJPdP on the 22nd. I've only just decided to walk, I'm a bit nervous having just over 9 weeks to prepare and train-but very excited too!
