Where in Camino Frances (800km) Route Do I need to Spend more Time exploring the Cities/Towns?

Oh my gracious, we do love our Camino, wonderful to see all the suggestions. I love detours, a wonderful oneis from Najera where I hopped a bus to San Millan de la Cogolla with the upper and lower - Suso and Yuso monastries.

    Walking the Camino at Christmas

That is lovely to hear. I think that could be a very special experience - walking or as a volunteer over Christmas.

    Walking the Camino at Christmas

Thanks Rebekah, I am not planning on a Christmas winter walk, but I was interested in what happens on the Camino at that time. I think, from posts I see, there are pilgrims on the trail at this time. Cheers and Buen Camino (from a previous Canfranc hospitalera)

    Walking the Camino at Christmas

I wonder if pilgrims are on the Camino over Christmas, how is that experience, are the albergues open, and if so do they mark Christmas? Would love to hear about that. Many of us have been on The Way at Easter, but I have never heard about Christmas.

    Lunch in Madrid

You are near the art museum Museo Reina Sophia, there is a square in front of the main entrance with restaurants. I went to a good restaurant there - in my notes I see I had a ravioli and a beer! And if you have time you can go into the Museum - they asked for my passport to see if I was...

    Not what I expected!

I expected a more religious experiences, I was there as a pilgrim. It took me to the second half of the CAmino to learn to connect with mass times, talk with others - monks nuns, priests other religious pilgrims

    Pilgrim in spirit?

Great to hear from a Canfranc volunteer, I was a hospitalaria in April at the albergue. Interesting questions you bring up. There were indeed many who were just doing part of the Camino but seemed very much in the spirit and spirituality of pilgrims. I also did a 'short' walk, I walked in to the...

    Madrid Airport

The challenge with Madrid airport is the distance between the terminals if you do not land at T4. I was there at the start of the month and everything was very efficient but travel out of the airport was a challenge (I should have taken the bus to Madrid but did the Metro which involved many...
