LIVE from the Camino Our Vegemite only lasted 1400km

I’m sure the discussion between Vegemite and Marmite will continue but as for me I’m in Larrasoaña now after crossing the Pyrenees with my two plastic tubs of Marmite! https://akinderway.wordpress.com/2019/08/06/what-happens-when-someone-brings-you-marmite-on-the-camino/

I actually suggested this to my wife. You should’ve seen the look on her face. I am prepared to try this even if it takes me all day!

Thanks André, the Vegemite vs Marmite debate is as old as the hills! 😉 The Marmite we get in Aus is not the same as that in the UK and (tongue in cheek) it’s a bit taboo to say you like it over Vegemite :) Don’t tell anyone but I’ll eat both quite happily.

We save it for special occasions like not seeing a shop or restaurant for two days! The Camino is not so well serviced in France as it is in Spain.

The glass containers are too heavy to carry :-( but thanks for the suggestion. We can get travel tubes of Vegemite at the supermarket in Aus.

Any Australians travelling to SJPDP on 4th-5th August please bring a tube of Vegemite! Ours has all gone - it only lasted 1400km! Here is how to recognise me... https://akinderway.wordpress.com/2019/07/31/the-french-chapter-day-48-sorde-labbaye-to-saint-palais/ Thanks!

    Vegetarian Camino

Yes I agree, and the choice is ours to make. I'm not here to discuss that. My hope is to provide vegetarians with information to enable them to walk the Camino as a vegetarian and to show them how easily I did it. Before I left for the Camino I heard stories of how vegetarians "had to eat meat...

    Vegetarian Camino

My blog is about how to be vegetarian on the Camino, not how to be non-vegetarian off the Camino. However the same principles would apply off the Camino. We cooked our own meals and it was easy. Personally I would rather let go of my hunger than my principles, after all Ahimsa is the highest...
