Like you, I am a solo traveler planning to start in Valenca on my first Camino, however I'm doing a variant of my own. If you are unconcerned about getting the certificate, you can start from wherever you want. You could also start in Vigo. BTW, I looked at your estimated KM's per day, and they...
UPDATE: I still have 5 months to go b4 my my trip, but I did want to share that the flight I booked almost 10 months in advance has already had 2 schedule changes. I had been cautioned about this, but based on the excellent price, I decided to go ahead and book. While I'm glad I booked to...
The Chicken Soup for the Soul, series have done very well. Sounds like your concept is similar except for focusing on the Camino. I always like books that feature "miracles", Angels, and hope in the world. We need more hope in the world, especially with the war in the Ukraine and on-going...
I'm walking in late October and plan to take my 32 degree base layers, a similar brand is called Heat. You can find at costco or sams if you live in the US. They are very lightweight and take up little room. They also double as my pajamas.
Thank you for sharing that is information - very helpful. I also have T-mobile and typically just pay the .25 a minute for local calls, as well as using what's app and Messenger for texting when traveling internationally. I will check this "add-on" out. Still trying to figure out what Camino...
I posted this today on another thread - maybe it will help you with your planning. I looked into the Spiritual Variant starting in Pontecesures, but decided it was too ambitious since it added 2 days of walking with approx. 15 miles a day and like your mom, I'd prefer to take is slower. You...
Like you, I am planning to walk from Tui to Santiago, but I'm starting in Valenca (last city in Portugal) and will walk from there to Tui so I can cross over the international bridge by foot. To get to Valenca, I'm flying in to Porto and will arrive by bus. After much thought and reading all...
Who knew? Thanks so much for posting this - I clicked on the link and watched the videos - I never knew how to correctly tie my shoe. Appreciate this very much!
Thanks to all who replied. I went ahead and booked the changeable airfare with AA. If down the road the price drops, AA will issue a credit, but I think the $829 on the dates, with times I like -no 4:00 am flights :-) is a fair price, even if they adjust the schedule. Bueno Camino!
Benny - I typically check fares on Orbitz. If there is a fare/airline I find that I really like, I cross check it with the airline itself. Sometimes the fares you get on Orbit/Kayak/etc. wont be available directly with the airline, sometimes its much cheaper. Always best to compare if you...
Ok, I didn't book yesterday - and guess what - Today Delta, United and KLM have all dropped their rates. Travellingman 22 says this will be a big booking weekend - Im going to keep "poking" around to see who offers the best times and rates. Admittedly, I have more time than cents or sense :-)
Nothing against Iberia - I have never flown them. Just thinking that in case of a change, it will be more difficult since AA would be in "charge" of the flight and changes have to go through them. Even trickier if I pay through Chase using some of my CC points.
Turns out the AA flight is actually on Iberia - makes me a bit more hesitant to book this far ahead. I think I will continue to monitor fares and book down the road. Again, thanks to all who replied.
